I chose to be a pharmacist because I always wanted to enter health care and it offers a chance to help patients as well as become a respected member of the community. I looked at several pharmacy schools, but I chose Duquesne for a lot of reasons. I like the city of Pittsburgh, plus Duquesne has a great pharmacy program and it’s a great size. However, I knew that I wanted to come to Duquesne on my first visit because I fell in love with the campus. I remember thinking “There’s so much grass!” I love that we are separated from the city by the steep hill, but if you walk down the block you are immersed in all of the culture and opportunities that Pittsburgh has to offer. I am currently the President of TOMS Club, which is a service organization dedicated to furthering the one-for-one mission of TOMS shoes, and I am a resident assistant. Between these roles and studying for my many tests I don’t have a lot of free time. However, I always make time to read and watch movies with my friends. I am also an intern at a long-term care pharmacy in Allentown, where I get a lot of hands-on experience that has only confirmed my desire to become a pharmacist.
